Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue
Terms of Adoption
1. If for any reason the Dane cannot remain with the person signing the contract, it will be returned to rescue immediately. Adopter is responsible for making arrangements and all expenses in the return of the Dane.

2. You will provide yearly vaccines and follow all pertinent ordinances regarding pets. The Dane MUST be kept on heartworm preventative (daily/monthly), flea and tick prevention (if needed) and maintain all other general care to keep the Dane in good health. We may ask for proof to verify that these things are being provided.

3. Contact us immediately if the Dane is missing (ran away or taken) Your Dane has been micro-chipped before adoption. The micro-chip #

4. You will provide appropriate food (premium is recommended) and fresh water. You must have an adequately fenced yard (unless otherwise approved), invisible fencing is NOT considered adequate in most cases. When in the yard, the Dane should not be left unsupervised and will have access to shelter & fresh water. The Dane should never be allowed to run loose other than in a fenced yard or other appropriate areas. This Dane is being placed as an INSIDE dog.

5. You will not abuse/neglect the Dane. You will not tie up or chain the Dane outdoors in any manner. You will not allow the Dane to ride in the back of a pick-up truck or other open vehicle. If the pick-up truck has a secure topper and back is closed, that is ok.

6. In some cases, obedience classes may be required as part of the adoption. In such cases, if proof is not presented within the prescribed time frame, the Dane may be taken back with no refund provided. For all other adopted Danes, we do recommend formal training classes for training and socialization. It also helps the new owner and Dane to bond and establish guidelines and authority.

7. You attest that all answers on the rescue application for adoption are correct. Falsifying an application will result in the Dane being taken back immediately with no refund.

8. You must agree to post adoption follow-ups (visit, call, e-mail) so that we can make sure that all is going well. If any of the above conditions are not being met, or if for any other reason we feel the Dane is not being cared for, the Dane may be taken back immediately with no refund.

9. Adopter should take the Dane to the Vet of their choice within 72 hours for a general checkup. Some may have pre-existing medical conditions that we are not aware of and cannot be held responsible for due to them being rescues. Adopter agrees that rescue has no liability for health conditions of the Dane and that there is no refund provided beyond the initial 72 hours noted above and at end of adoption agreement.

10. We do not always have a case history of the rescue and therefore we do not know every personality quirk or likes/dislikes. There is an evaluation period, but not all traits may be exhibited. As such, adopter(s) assume all risk and responsibility of ownership for the Dane once it is in adopters possession, and indemnifies, defends and holds harmless this rescue against any and all claims for damages arising out of adopters acceptance of said Dane. Rescue makes no expressed or implied warranties with regard to this Dane, its health, temperament, or otherwise. For all intents and purposes, this Dane is released "AS IS".
