CommentsI am looking for a new dog. We live on 25 acres with horses and goats I don't know if danes are suited for this type home, we also have 2 dogs and two cats. I'd love to talk to someone about this. NameJan Jahner
CommentsJan, Most Great Danes get along fine with farm animals, cats, and other dogs. The acreage is not important as Great Danes are INSIDE dogs. They go outside to potty and may hang out with you if you are outside, but they basically couch potatoes. Visit our "Dane Links" for links to some good Great Dane sites. NameJeannine
CommentsSite is looking good. Glad you got everything taken care of. NameTerry
CommentsHi mom! from "Leroy". I am a black and white pitbull who was adopted out through the news paper. My name is Bambam now but my foster mom called me Leroy. This is about 8 years ago. "Leroy" just wanted to thank his foster mom for finding him such a great furever home. He is now 10 and is turning into an old man... I was found behind a circle K. I believe the husband of my foster mom finally coaxed me into his car. I had a tendency to 'nip' males at their ankles. Does anyone recognize my description of "Leroy" aka Bambam? Just wanted to say Hi and that Bambam has a great life with me and Buddy! NameAngelique A.
CommentsIt's "leroy's" mom again. Here's my email. Femalepit10@yahoo.com. I would love to hear from his foster mom. Just to say" Thank u for what u do!!" Bambam has had and is having a great life! NameAngelique

CommentsIve just recently got my 3rd great dane. She is a female but there is a problem that i need help with and dont know how to go about it. The people I got her from is in alabama, I was so disappointed in the situation when I picked her up. The people had atleast 100 great danes and 50 minuture Schanuzers. I contacted the police department but I dont believe they are going to do anything about it. What else can I do? This little girl is 7mn old and has never had human contact or if she did it was negative kind. I found her the othr night hiding in my bath tub. What do I do?If you have any ideals please email me at ashleysides00@yahoo.com or even call anytime please 850-226-1606 NameAshley

CommentsHello all. I adopted a Dane "Evon" from This rescue group in 07. He is a wonderful pet / family member and the really helped me out being I lived in Louisiana and wasnt sure that I would be able to get him. Traveling across state lines with a dog that large was a little intimidating to think about. I met his foster parents in Mississipii and the trade off / adoption was a complete success. So easy - he did wonderful on the ride home and at all the stops we made to give him some stretching room. My point is my experience with these people was a wonderful one -they made 110% sure that the animal was ready for his forever home and that we were the right family for him. Thier hearts and souls go to these animals and the extended family that comes along after adopting them out. You cant go wrong by choosing this facility to adopt a new member of your family. Danes make the best pets inside or outside. Dont ever let the size intimidate you - they are just big lazy teddy bears. (except when they are ready to play) Such fun to have!!!!!! NameSimone Bello - Livonia Louisiana

CommentsWill try and contact someone via e-mail as well. We live in Madison,AL right outside of the Huntsville area. We will be in Pensacola for a short getaway soon. I saw a dane on petfinders as well as here and wondered if there were ever any exceptions on the home visit because of distance? If not, I understand that, but if there is we might be interested in coming to this dane or others that are available. We are a dane family. We got our first in 1996. He was the most beautiful fawn pup with a solid black mask from the VonShrado bloodline in NC. Sadly, he passed in 2002. We then got a female fawn pup from B'ham. About 1 1/2yrs later we got a male harlequin pup to be friends with the other. Sadly we had to put her down about 3 months ago from continued hip problems and now our dear Romeo has lost his Juliette (that's really their names!)She was really like a momma to him...he has always been so pupply like and since her death he has changed a good bit. We had to put him on Elavil right after we put her down...he was so distraught. He cried and howled for 2 days. It began to help after a couple of weeks and we have been able to take him off of it now. After talking with the vet (a wonderful mobile vet) we decide to wait alittle while to look for another one to give him time to grieve her loss. It has been very hard to watch him grieve her and look so lonesome. I do think he is on the up side of it though and would do well with a new companion dog. Just let me know if our adopting one of your danes would be a possibility. I have checked with VonShrado and they do not have any plans for pups in 09...so I have been watching the petfinder and rescues. Thanks so much if only for your time to read this comment, and a HUGE thank you for what you are doing to be of such help and such a lifeline for these amazing beautiful creatures!!!! Have a wonderful day! NameKellie White

CommentsOne year ago today Patti and Dave B. dropped Onyx off at my house. I signed the adoption papers and comforted her as they drove off. I remember how excited I was to finally adopt a beautiful Great Dane. Little did I know that she would become my canine soul mate. Sometimes it's difficult to believe she's only been with me one year...it seems so much longer. She has a special place not only in my heart, but in everyone's who meets her. The amount of love and devotion she shows on a daily basis is humbling. The world would be a much nicer place if everyone had their own Onyx! :) NameDaphne (and of course, Onyx)
