How to Adopt

Thank you for your interest in adopting a Great Dane through the NW FL GREAT DANE RESCUE. We request a donation of up to $350 depending on the age and condition of the dog. At all times, additional donations to our program are gratefully and gladly accepted. If you are interested in adopting a Great Dane, either now or in the future, please fill out an application for adoption today. We do ask for a one time $10.00 non-refundable application fee. To see why there is an application fee please click here.

The Great Danes that become available for adoption are Great Danes that are referred to NWFLGDR if, for any reason, they become homeless. Usually they range from two to six years of age. These Great Danes come from a variety of circumstances, including animal shelters.

When a Great Dane is released to NWFLGDR, it is taken to a veterinarian for a medical check and necessary vaccinations. The Great Dane's temperament is evaluated and we attempt to locate any past history of the Great Dane. All Great Danes are neutered and microchipped before release to their new home.

Many times Great Danes are just not readily available for adoption. This is good news for us because it means that this wonderful breed is being well-cared for. The bad news is your wait may be longer than you had hoped. Please be patient with our Rescue program.

Our Rescue program strives to bring together Great Danes and families in the same geographical area in order to keep transportation costs to a minimum. We prefer not to adopt our rescues out of the South East or to homes that plan on relocating out of the area.

We are looking for permanent, loving homes where the Great Dane will receive top quality care. These Great Danes need a special place where they will be appreciated as a companion dog and part of the family. But, a Great Dane is not the breed for everyone. Before you decide to acquire a Great Dane, we recommend that you acquaint your family with this noble breed.
